Skip the smart aircon. Do this instead.

Short answer: don't pay extra for a smart aircon. Buy a normal one and make it smart with an IR remote.

Why the smart aircon looks right.

You're building a smart home, so a smart aircon seems like the matching piece. Here is the catch. Smart aircons run on their own brand app, and that app doesn't talk to your smart home app. You end up with two apps, and the aircon sits outside every scene and routine you build.

The IR remote does the same job for less.

A small smart IR remote learns your aircon's infrared signals. After that, one app controls temperature, fan speed, and mode, right next to your lights and fans. Say "movie time" and the aircon settles to 24 as the lights dim. One sentence. Buy a normal aircon. Pair it with the remote. The same trick works for a TV or any infrared device.

The one honest limitation.

There is no live status from the aircon. If someone at home switches it off with the physical remote, the app won't show that change. For most homes that's a non-issue. Just worth knowing before you expect the app to mirror the room perfectly.
